Rodney Lynn Odom
July 30, 1970 to October 15, 2008

The world has lost one of its biggest hearts. Our beloved Rodney has passed on to Heaven.

Rodney was born July 30, 1970 Slidell, Louisiana to Jim and Jo Odom. Rodney attended school in Kingwood, Texas, college at UCLA, San Jac and University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Rodney was the consummate athlete, winning at whatever sport he attempted – pitcher in baseball, quarter back in football, expert fisherman and incredibly gifted basketball player. Rod played professional basketball all over the world for 9 years, then brought his exceptional love of the game back to Kingwood to coach kids of all ages. He met the love of his life, Melinda Holum, in May 1999 and married her Aug 28, 2004. They are expecting their first child in January 09. Rodney was adored and will be sorely missed by his parents Jim and Jo Odom of Kingwood, his brother Rusty and sister in law Boo Odom of Kingwood, sister Beth Odom of Kingwood, as well as his nephews Trevor, Kirby, Jack, Nick and Cole, his niece Madeline. His brother in law Jared Holum and wife Julie Holum of Portland, Oregon, mother in law Mary Ellen Hancock of League City, father in law Andy Holum of Houston.. Rod’s list of close and heart-broken friends is numerous as he made friends for life and was a true guy’s guy. He loved his friends, his family, fishing, coaching basketball and Alabama football. Not a day will go by when we won’t want to call him.
